The city of lights rolled down the red carpet for one of the country’s most glamorous three-day bridal fashion extravaganza to present the latest and the best of Pakistani bridal trends by leading and burgeoning fashion designers. Day 1 kick-started with Amir Adnan’s amazing An Ode to Heritage, followed by Yasmin Zaman’s Jashan-e-Bahar, a celebration of spring. Rizwan Ahmed was the third to present his collection Sonehri on the runway which was followed by Impulse by Aisha Farid. Show 1 was concluded by Naushad Imdad’s Eminence III, a prequel of his previous collection showcased last year. Show 2 of day 1 started with Zauq presented by Arsalan Iqbal which was followed by Gogi by Hassan Riaz. Day 1 concluded on a high note with 1909 by the couture king, Hassan Shehryar Yasin.
Day 2 got off to a great start with beautiful bridal couture from Amina Yasmeen by Mansoor followed by Ayesha & Usman Qamar’s Enchanted Garden, a collection that focused on flowers and a romantic mood. Faika Karim went next with Noorie after which Uzma Babar’s Forever, a collection with an immaculate taste for modern artistry amalgamated into traditional intricacy, garnered much applause. Fahad Hussayn brought some much needed bridal drama on the ramp with his collection titled, Dara Shikoh Aur Sunehri Churail before Ahmed Sultan presented Kingdom of Alliums. Day 2 of the fashion week ended with a special segment, titled The Classic Red, featuring all the critically acclaimed and established designers to showcase one exquisite outfit in the colour with a focus on depicting tradition, culture, love and vibrancy. Designers who took part in the segment include Adnan Pardesy, Ali Xeeshan, Faraz Manan, Farah Talib Aziz, Karma, Maheen Taseer, Mehdi, Misha Lakhani, Sania Maskatiya, Shamaeel Ansari, Tena Durrani, Elan, Zaheer Abbas and Zara Shahjahan.
Asifa & Nabeel’s A Roaring Melodrama opened the final day of QHBCW 2017. The collection fused dynamic pieces with fragile carnations. Annus Abrar’s Shehnaai was next before Emraan Rajput’s showcase, Chashme Shahi which was followed by Sana Abbas’ Noor. Designer duo Nickie Nina gave the audience much to talk about with Nouvelle Mariée Vol II. The designers also paid tribute to Junaid Jamshed. While Ahsan Menswear’s Samjhota stood out on its own, Sonya Batla’s capsule collection brought the 14th edition of the bridal couture week to an amazing end wherein she dedicated the showcase to Dar ul Sukoon, a home for physically and mentally challenged children and adults.
The fashion week also created much buzz on social media for all the stars it saw on its red carpet as well as ramp, including Anoushey Ashraf, Sarah Khan, Aagha Ali, Ayeza Khan, Danish Taimoor, Zahid Ahmed, Noor Khan, Sami Khan, Sana Fakhar, Ali Kazmi, Tehmina Khalid, Khalid Anam, Noor Bukhari, Bilal Ashraf, Gia Ali, Sanam Chaudhry, the cast of upcoming movie Chalay Thay Saath, Mehwish Hayat, Azfar Rehman, Kubra Khan, Shahzad Sheikh, Neelam Muneer, Sonya Hussyn, Junaid Khan, Sumbul Iqbal and Humaima Malick. The audiences were also highly entertained by live performances of artistes Aima baig, Asim Azher, bands like Fuzon and Raga Boys and a qawwali performance by Hamza Akram and team.
