What else would a dedicated film buff want to see, a creepy clown movie surrounded by a bunch of clowns. This is what a movie theatre, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, in Austin Texas might look like for the release of It, the new horror film, which will be screened only for clowns, or those who like dressing up as them.
The clown-centric screening is also offering face painters for any last minute touch-ups required by jokers on the spot, as well as raffles, photo booth and various terrifying merriment, as mentioned on the Cinema’s website.
The movie is based on the popular novel by Stephen King, which features Pennywise, an eerie clown-like figure, which is why, perhaps, the cinema decided it would be foolish not to appeal to its rather fun-loving fans.
The clown-only screening is also being called a jab at the outcry the cinema faced when it earlier hosted a women only screening for Wonder Woman.
The event is attracting amusingly snarky comments on the theatre’s social media, where one states: “Be prepared for the backlash from the non-clown crowd that is angry that you’re creating this ‘safe viewing space’ for all the snowflake clowns.”
Another guy asked if it plans to invite serial killers only when they’re screening the next Hannibal film.
