Hommersmith ApolloAn eclectic fusion of music was witnessed recently when London Hammersmith Apollo, which has been a venue for many huge rocking musical shows for desis and artists from around the globe thumped out rhythms and percussions for the Londoners at the Mega Stars Nite. This musical extravaganza featured a range of music from Pop to RnB, Soul to Hip-Hop and Bhangra.
Top artists brought their unique flavour to stage and this show was staged on a respectable calibre. Ali Zafar Pakistan, Hard Kaur from India, Imran Khan came especially from Holland and both Jay Sean and Sukshinder Shinda represented United Kingdom.
More than 2700 people yelled with joy when “V5” was introduced. The band came from Pakistan. After they played an instrumental, Faisal (the host) invited Imran Khan who performed his hit song “aaja nachle” accompanied by a troupe of dancers. Imran’s dynamic performance and fusion of Bhnagra music gave a groovy start to the show. Hommersmith ApolloThe atmosphere already electric and ready for some more hardy stuff, Hard Kaur popped up on stage. She did what she is best known for and called as Hip-Hop Queen, performed Hip-Hop numbers including her famous hit “Aik Glassy”. Her performance was as usual a simply great one while the dancers performing with her were equally superb. This created a box-wave vibe in music terms at Apollo.
Hommersmith ApolloBefore Sukshinder Shinda came on stage, the crowd was already on their feet in anticipation of the Bhangra stuff and vinyl screeches. Sukshinder started his performance with “Aao Gidda” and continued on Bhnagra Beat with two live dhol players and his full throttle band. Next, Sukshinder performed “Wanga” and it took the crowd into full swing of Bhangra fever. Almost everyone shrieked and danced to this bhangra masters performance.
Jay Sean; an international artist whose songs are among top 10 UK and US charts jumped onstage next and there he was ready to explode with the pre heated zeal of his rehearsed songs. He is known as the prince of RnB and his song Ride It rode him to international stardom, lest we forget, the top charts as well. The night reached its crescendo, the audience fulfilled and the artists sweating after a full fledged show para. Do we need to tell you what the audienceís reaction was when Ali Zafar performed? The crowd was demented - the performance simply awesome. Ali Zafar desi King of Pop took the stage among shouts of joy and delight from the audience. Our bloke sang for almost 90 minutes tossing out all his hit numbers including Huqa Pani, Sajania, Masti and of course Channo. The crowd, throughout Ali’s performance, tried to come on stage to be with him. They hit a high with dance and chorus giving a befitting end to a great concert.
