GOES CHIC

Lahore was abuzz with excitement last month as Lahoriites were all geared to welcome the Bollywood entourage. This entourage comprised Indian sensation, Miss India Sonal Chauhan, Emraan Hashmi and the Bhatts – Mukesh and Mahesh. A fashionable evening had been whipped up in honour of our Indian neighbours by some socialites to give them a taste of Pakistani sensibilities. It was an evening of showbiz and style… the premier of Jannat was followed by a fashion show at a prestigious locale in Lahore.
The event was the launch of Lajwanti’s Spring/Summer 2008 collection called Colour Way. The designer had worked up three different lines; western, fusion and eastern to cater to all tastes. The show got under way with the western line that was sent down the ramp in style. Models could be seen weaving their way on the ramp in beautiful ankle skimming glittering ball gowns, and skirts paired with trendy tops. These had been embellished with crystals, Swarovski cut beads interspersed with thread work. This segued into the second segment featuring the designer’s fusion line that emphasised on a western silhouette. The third and the last segment brought to the fore the designer’s creativity in formal wear and bridals. She had sculpted svelte bridal attire with long trails and pishwaas with long flowey dupattas.
The colours were bright, yet, subtle. White, off white and gold were offset with other shades both light and bright. The models had been touched by Khawar Riaz’s magic wand while Wahab had choreographed the runway segments. Miss India, Sonal Chuhan also sizzled the ramp with her special appearance in a black and brown sari that was later presented to her by Ana. While Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt were also seen sporting creations by our talented designer.
After the fashion sequence was over dinner was served which was enjoyed by all those present. The atmosphere was charged with excitement while one could see the Indian guests chilling with their Pakistani neighbours. It was good to see showbiz going chic. |
