our most memorable moment yet?
When my sister got Best Actress Award at HUM Awards.
You’re most nervous when?
Even though there are so many times that I get nervous, I can’t think of anything specific right now.
You’re most comfortable when?
When I’m surrounded by my close friends, I don’t have to be fake.
First celebrity crush?
Can’t remember the first one, though Fawad Khan is the latest one [laughs].
Someone you wish to work with?
I have already worked with Nauman Ijaz before, but I want to work with him again.
Any personality you would like to spend a day with?
Yousuf Bashir Qureshi (YBQ)
Best childhood memory?
It’s not a childhood memory, but a recent one. Our entire family, along with our mother, went to perform umrah.
If you were stranded on an island?
I wouldn’t be able to do anything, so I think I’d just stay and enjoy whatever there is.
Craziest fan encounter?
There are so many! I don’t know how they (the fans) get hold of my number. Even if I update it, they get to know. They’ll call day in, day out and send extremely lengthy messages.
If you could wake up tomorrow as somebody for one day, whose life would you want to live?
I wouldn’t want to be a specific personality, but I wouldn’t want to wake up as a girl. I’d like to live as a boy.
If you weren’t doing what you are, what would you be doing?
I never wanted to be an actor; I always wanted to be an aeronautical engineer.
If you were to get stuck in a lift with someone, who would you want it to be?
I guess with Fahad Mustafa.
If you could change something about your appearance or personality, what would it be?
A person always keeps changing and grooms for the better with time. So I’m not conscious, but if I could change something, I think I would make myself a bit taller.
If you could go back and undo something, what would that be?
I would spend more time with my mother. Everyone’s time of departure (from this world) is decided and you can’t do much about that, but when I think about that, all the time that I wasted somewhere else and didn’t give to my mother, I’d undo that.
Foolproof way to win your heart?
Winning my heart is not that difficult, just talk nicely in front of me.
I haven’t come across one. Agar koi aisa insan hota tou main ab tak shadi kar chuki hoti [laughs].
You can’t live without?
You would never forgive?
Main dil main kabhi koi baat nahi rakhti, that irritates me. I always seek to clarify things. I don’t think there is anything that I wouldn’t forgive. But yes, maybe if someone used me to get something, then I might not forgive them for that.
The secret to your lush locks & skin?
I don’t do anything, trust me. I don’t have an acne problem, I have naturally thick and long hair and everyone likes them on set. I oil my hair once in a blue moon.
What’s your workout regime?
I eat a lot! I need something to eat after every little while. Mujhay bas lagta kuch bhi nahi hai.
How would you describe your style sense?
Go-to casual. Nothing too made up.
How do you relax after a tiring day?
I take a shower and watch a movie.
Three things you can’t leave home without?
My lip and cheek tint, hair brush and my bag.
What makes you impatient?
When someone lies to my face, especially after making a mistake.
What are the most important things you have learnt so far in life?
Not to trust anyone and to be yourself.
You get most emotional when?
We recently attended MOM’s premiere. It is a big achievement for Sajal, as well as all of us. We’re here because of our mother, who was even present during the filming of that movie, so not having her by our side on that day was very hard for us.
How would you describe yourself?
I am an emotional person and I talk a big game, saying not to trust anyone etc. But when it comes to implementing these rules, I always fall short. I end up trusting people very quickly and expect them to treat me in the same special way that I treat them.
What was your first day on the set like?
I was a bit nervous.
What would you never wear?
Jumpsuits, I don’t like them at all!
How long does it take for you to get ready?
I think 20-30 minutes.
Your best habit?
No matter who needs me, I’m always a call away.
Sajal’s most annoying habit?
Sometimes Sajal doesn’t answer her phone, then everyone ends up calling me.
Sajal’s best habit?
Wese wo mun se bohot kuch bol deti hai, but she has a very good heart.
When do you think is the ideal time to get married?
Whenever you find someone good, you shouldn’t waste time. These days people think one should enjoy their lives to the fullest and can get married later on, which is not right. One shouldn’t put away such matters, no matter what field you’re in. I think the ideal age for a girl to get married is 22.
Who is more expressive, you or Sajal?
Who is more serious?
I am. I’m not very talkative.
Who is more submissive?
Main hi hoon, mujhay manna parta hai. Sajal is dominant, she gets her way.
What do you sisters love doing the most together?
Shopping, definitely. Sajal relies on me a lot for my opinions when we are shopping.
What is your 10 year plan?
I didn’t even plan coming into this field. I’m here because my mother encouraged me a lot to act. I never really plan things.
Things that you have learnt from this industry?
People change a lot after they get fame, but it shouldn’t be so. They start maintaining a different class and circle, and want to socialise with only certain people. One should be nice and talk to everyone the same way, be it a spot boy or director.
An advice to young talent entering the field of acting?
Respect this profession. People say all sorts of things about this field. Paanchon unglian barabar nahi hoti. Our field has a lot of good people, too. In fact, if you ever visit the set, I would say you’ll find our kind of work one of the hardest to do.
