A

business suit is the go-to formal wear at work, at a special event, or at a job interview but this type of attire is downright uncomfortable during this hot season. This is the time to put together a suit look that is uniquely yours – something comfortable, relaxed, and versatile enough for work and play. Here’s how you can stay cool in a suit all day long.

Go sockless
Although it is a versatile look and can be styled in abundant ways, going sockless is not suitable for formal settings. This look works better with a more casual suit, plus you will need to invest in a few pairs of invisible socks to limit the chance of getting sweaty trotters. Try a thinner sock in 100 per cent cotton that matches your
trouser leg.

Mix up the footwear
You don’t necessarily have to wear Oxfords or any other leather shoes to complete your suit look. Pair loafers or sneakers with it for a more relaxed and comfortable look
this summer.

Lose the lining
Thick linings can lead to you feeling the heat when suited during summer. Invest in a summer suit that’s either half-lined or unlined made of lightweight fabric, as this will allow more air to penetrate your jacket and help to improve breathability.

Wear an undershirt
It may not necessarily keep you cooler, but it will at least keep a majority of your sweat from hitting your shirt and jacket. When we say undershirt, we mean a light fabric white undershirt, nothing else qualifies as an undershirt.

Ditch the tie
Ideally, toss the tie completely during the warmer months, but if you are required to wear one then make sure it’s the last thing you put on.

Swap the pieces around
A full suit is definitely more formal than a blazer or sports jacket but you can always swap the jackets and pants for a more interesting and relaxed look. It’s more stylish, less corporate. Pair a blazer with chinos or go for a denim and sports jacket look.

Take the jacket off
Wearing a jacket throughout the day is not necessary. Take the jacket off while commuting or whenever it is not essential to wear one. Casually hold it over your shoulder so when you arrive to your destination, you can put it back on.

Pick the right fabric
In summer, wear suits with open weave fabrics like high twist wools, fresco, linen, and cotton. These comparatively lightweight fabrics are much more breathable and help avoid those unsightly sweat patches without compromising on appearance.

Choose the right colour
Dark blue, gray and black absorb more heat than lighter colours. Wear suits in lighter blues, grays, tans and even khaki in order to avoid heat. Summer is also the perfect time to start introducing colour, vibrancy, and boldness into your wardrobe.

Go collarless
Lose the tie and unbutton the top button. This look says you are off-duty, and your neck can breathe. You can even ditch the collar by donning a T-shirt under your suit.
