10 Beauty Dos
Beauty commandments so practical and indulgent, the only thing
you won’t be able to give up is your new routine.

Vanity Fare1. I shall always blend my makeup
Foundation should match your skin tone. Apply it in natural light, blend with a brush on the forehead, nose, chin, cheeks, jaw and neck, then dab with concealer and dust with loose powder.

2. I shall exfoliate
Exfoliation gets rid of dead cells and oils that can block pores. For a luminous glow, exfoliate dry skin two to three times a week, normal skin once or twice a week, normal skin once a week and oily skin every seven to 10 days.

3. I shall wear concealer
Concealer should never be seen. Using fingers, dab concealer under eyes and over red areas. If it’s too dark or light, it will draw attention to the area you’re covering.

4. I shall moisturise my body daily
For skin that’s beyond soft, always slather lotion on after stepping out of the shower. Top up moisture levels by taking flaxseed, linseed or cod-liver oil daily.

5. I shall not wear chipped nail polish
Like a guy with his shirt half hanging out of his trousers, chipped nail polish is a total turn-off. But don’t just peel off the rest-you could remove the top layers of the nail bed, too. Remove polish immediately after the first chip using quick nail-polish remover wipes. Rehydrate cuticles by massaging in cuticle oil.
6. I shall leave my spots alone
Squeezing can push bacteria deeper into the skin and spread infection, so the only way to touch your spots is with a zit-zapping solution. Choose a quick-heal salicylic acid or one with antibacterial properties, like tea tree oil and rosemary.

7. I shall protect against wrinkles
Use a moisturiser all year round that protects against UV rays. UVA can cause long term skin damage and premature ageing.

8. I shall not skip conditioner
Conditioner eliminates tangles, smoothes hair cuticles and adds shine. Avoiding the roots, comb through to the ends with a wide-tooth comb and wait a few minutes before rinsing.

9. I shall moisturise every night
When you sleep, your skin repairs any daytime damage. Use a night moisturiser, as it tends to have a higher concentration of ingredients than a day cream to boost cell renewal and replace lost moisture.

10. I shall stop only using water to cleanse my face
According to a beauty company 54% of women never use cleansers, yet it’s essential to remove oil and makeup. Cream cleansers are great for all skin types, but rinsing with too-hot water can strip the skin of natural oils, giving you a dry complexion.
