After the tragic death of Heath Ledger, plus the recent personal disasters of co-stars Christian Bale and Morgan Freeman, The Dark Knight is the latest in a list of Hollywood movies that seem to have fallen victim to a mysterious voodoo - bringing death, destruction and controversy to its stars. The Dark Knight
This was always going to be the movie people were talking about, following Heath Ledger's tragic death. But when his co-stars began suffering personal disasters, rumours of a curse began. Heath told a reporter that his role as psychopath The Joker had kept him awake at night, “Last week I probably slept an average of two hours a night. I couldn't stop thinking. My body was exhausted, and my mind was still going on.” Heath dies in January from an overdose of drugs prescribed for insomnia and anxiety.
During filming, a special effects technician was killed in a truck accident and mysterious fires spooked out crew members on set. But the trouble didn't end there - Christian Bale was recently questioned over an alleged assault, while earlier this month Morgan Freeman narrowly escaped death in a horrific car smash.
Superman
Legend says writers Jerry Siegal and Joe Shuster cursed the Superman film, unhappy at being paid a pittance for their comic book creation. The original TV Superman, George Reeves, was shot dead. His successor Christopher Reeve was once committed to a psychiatric ward. Richard Pryor had MS, while Marlon Brando, who played Superman's father, saw family tragedy - his son shot his sister' s lover interest, and she hanged herself.

Exorcist
Widely regarded as the scariest film ever made, The Exorcist is an even more chilling experience once you know the history of this movie about the Antichrist. Between four and nine cast and crew (depending on which rumour you believe) died on the set or just after filming was completed 
- including actors Jack Mac Gowran and Vasiliki Maliaros.
Child actress Linda Blair, who played the demonically possessed Regan, reportedly had premonitions about the death of a crew member. Spookily, at a film screening in Rome -the spiritual home of Christianity - lightning struck the theatre and destroyed a 400-year-old crucifix there.

Aaliyah, cast in The Matrix Reloaded as Zee, filmed only a handful of scenes before her fatal plane crash. Star 
Keanu Reeves had a near-fatal motorbike accident and his ex-girlfriend Jennifer Syme was killed in a car crash. A crew member said Keanu chanted prayers to 'ward off evil spirits.' But still Laurence Fishburne broke his arm and Carrie-Ann Moss fractured her leg on-set.
