As the local fashion enthusiasts gear up for the upcoming bridal week, MAG rounds up the best inspiration-worthy trends from the Resort Collections 2016 – one of the best international fashion presentations. If this season's runways are any indication, colour is everywhere – yellow, red, pastels and a whole bunch of unheard-of shades, and its quite possible that the local designers draw inspiration from the designs to gives us a similar taste. But this is a two way street. Check out the eye-catching pieces and trends that you need to watch out for and our very own collections that managed to serve as inspiration to the international couture geniuses.

LANDING ON INTERNATIONAL WATERS

Oranges & Lemons
Frocks in citrus hues were abundant in the 2016 collections, but none embodied the zesty spirit like Stella McCartney's beautiful flowing gowns. Anyone who follows local runways would immediately notice the similarities between the colour scheme of this collection and the FNK Asia collection earlier this year at TFPW ’15.

Pop Up Petals
Bright and colourful floral embroidery adorned everything from pretty black slip dresses and crisp white shirts to elegant totes and even sandals. Oscar de la Renta hit the trend on the head, no surprise, but the heavenly dresses from Blumarine and Erdem had everyone’s hearts. Colourful floral embroidery? Need it be said that our industry practically invented the concept and reinvents it every other month? The designs bear big similarities to the white base collection with multi-coloured floral embroidery that Zaheer Abbas showcased earlier.

Midnight Madness
One glance was all it took to know 70s style is not going anywhere anytime soon. The audience was mad about Lisa Perry’s blue collection. Coincidentally, just a few months back, Daaman showcased its own white and navy blue collection. Even though the designs are worlds apart, the basic colour blocking is something we already saw and enjoyed this year.

To the Max[i]
Flowers are always a strong feature in resort collections and the floral maxi is basically the totem for the off-season. Lilly Pulitzer's collection burst with bright tropical delights and the eye-catching maxis looked fun and comfortable. But if thought about, the concept of maxis has already been presented on to the runway by Sadaf Malaterre this year. Nevertheless, both the gorgeous collections seem from different planets and one thing is for sure, the maxis are here to stay for a while.
