DON’T fill the outfit with too many details. You may be too excited to try out all the things that are trending these days, but remember, less is always more. Focus on just a few details at a time and make sure they make sense together. Pearls, gems, zari work, gota, sheer, net, velvet – it doesn’t all have to go in the same outfit.

DO add a pop of colour to your neutrals. The wedding halls will be full girls flaunting of metallics, without a doubt. Want to stand out? Add a pop of colour to your dress by pairing yours with a bold coloured separate to add just a hint of brightness without overpowering the entire look.

DO go for some feel good feminine flare. Even though the upcoming season is bringing with it all shades bold and deep, some hues just never seem out of place. Corals and pastels are definitely a part of that clan.

DO give a few former trending details another go. Are there any styles that you loved from the last season? Are you missing them? Go ahead and flaunt them this season any way! Style is more about looking good in what you feel comfortable with than following the latest trends.

DO indulge in sporting some good old traditional cuts like straight kurta, angarkha, classic shalwar etc. Style and trends don’t necessarily need to be co-dependent on one another. Classic styles can work any time just as well.

DON’T forget to balance proportions. Whatever separates you are pairing together, make sure they look flattering to your physique. Too much fitting or too much flare can cause any dress to fall flat, no matter how beautiful. Allow volume in only one of the pieces. You choose.

DO go for the waist belt. This is a not-so-new detail but very classy and still hot in the fashion market. The belt just makes the dress so much more interesting! It wouldn’t be much of a bother to carry off and you can easily take it off if you want to go for the traditional style.

DO break the rules this wedding season. Has your style become too comfortable for you and predictable for others? Go for fusion; mix classy traditional and bold western details to your outfit to make the most of it.

DON’T overdo a colour. There is nothing more visually repelling than a person dressed head-to-toe in a loud hue that overshadows every other detail in the look. If you are picking out just one shade to wear, make sure you use elements like varying shades, different fabrics etc. to add depth to the dress.
