Amir Zaki Resurfaces With ' Tumhari Aankhon Main '
He can be called a magician in many ways – be it the disappearing act he has perfected or the quality of music he makes, Amir Zaki is known and noted, loved by the fans but never really understood. They call him a genius, his music stands apart but does a musical genius fail to keep his music alive?
He resurfaces, just as we think he was gone for good, and expectations from Aamir Zaki are always high. He has been labeled a genius, proved it many times but failed to deliver consistently. He battles with himself at the price of his music. Time and time again, he goes into hiding returning momentarily only to fade away once more.
Even the most ardent fans cannot trace his musical career; his albums filled with brilliant instrumentals could not make their mark just because of the long periods of silence in between. His videos are rarer, images from the hit 'Mera Pyar' still dot music channels, the video still plays and is loved by all but his inability to create something equally good makes the audience wonder if the songs success was just because of a dearth of choices? He was affiliated with Hadiqa Kiyani but that too, didn't last very long.
Much to his fans' surprise, Zaki resurfaced a few weeks ago, this time armed with a video – a fairly commercial one. 'Tumhari Aankhon Main' starts with an interesting piece performed by this artist. The video is directed by Hammad Khan, it features Amina Sheikh and an aged, tired looking Amir Zaki. He has appeared after a break of almost three years. His last recorded work was with Hadiqa Kiyani for her album 'Rough Cut' in 2007. 'Tumhari Aankhon Main' seems like an attempt to make a comeback since it shows that Zaki has finally broken his vow of staying away from commercial music by getting a mainstream actress to star in the video. The song however has failed to gather the amount of recognition it should have despite its quality. Will another track follow this one? Should we expect a new solo album? Will we be seeing more performances by Aamir Zaki? No one knows but seeing the lukewarm response to 'Tumhari Aankhon Main' makes me wonder, perhaps this maestro has made a mistake by letting his years of glory perish only to return too late and find that fans have moved on.
'Till The World Ends' – Another New Track By Britney
It seems Britney Spears has learnt from past mistakes, she's back and she is better! The anticipated album 'Femme Fatale' is due in a few days and the record company is committed to keep it in the news. The release of 'Hold It Against Me' was preceded by a number of teasers which kept the audience interested and keen to know more. Recently Britney has released another track titled 'Till The World Ends' which is yet another pop dance number by the diva.
Penned by Ke$ha and produced by Dr Luke and Max Martin, 'Till The World Ends' is just a likable track. Speaking about the affiliation with Dr. Luke, she said, "We have known each other for a long time. Most people don't know this but we worked together when I was recording Blackout. He was incredible back then and he has only gotten better over the years." The lyrics of this track are too tame for Ke$ha and somewhat bold for Britney. Ke$ha has made it known that she wants to be a noted dance floor banger and this track is exactly that!
A huge contrast to 'Hold It Against Me', this track will definitely become popular on the dance floor but not on music charts. There is nothing to make 'Till The World Ends' a distinguished track. We all know that Ke$ha makes it a point to have inspiring lyrics but it seems the spirit lacked when it came to writing one for Spears. The mix is also quite ordinary and lacking in originality making it sound less like a Britney and more like an Usher track! Auto tune is Britney's best friend and she didn't hesitate to use it to the max, this is a huge con especially when the singer claims she has matured, her music should show some growth too. When it comes to 'Till The World Ends', it seems only the title is what's inspiring!
However not all is ordinary about this track. Its upbeat tempo makes it a fun number and the hype has made it into one of the most played tracks on the radio this week. The lyrics are fine and do not contain the obscenity both Britney and Ke$ha are famous for. The decision to bring out another track soon after the release of the first one has made the singer stay in the limelight. All eyes are on Britney and what she conjures up next. From what I can see, the upcoming album will not be one of her best works, although that certainly does not make it any less anticipating!
'Femme Fatale' Leaks
Just weeks before the release of the new album, all its tracks have found their way into the big bad world of the internet. The complete track list is available which is raising quite a few eyebrows. It is rumored that the leaks were made possible by the record company itself to create some more hype around it.
Speaking about the album Britney said, "I wanted to make a fresh-sounding album for the clubs or something that you play in your car when you're going out at night that gets you excited but I wanted it to sound different from everything else out right now."
"I also wanted to experiment with all the different types of music I love which is why you hear a mixture of pop, hip-hop and dance throughout."
"I think Femme Fatale speaks for itself. I worked really hard on it and spent almost two years recording it. I think it's the best album I have ever made. There's nothing to say. I'll let the music speak for itself. It's definitely my edgiest and most mature sound yet."
"It's a little bit of (an evolution and a revolution)," she continued. "There are songs on this album that don't sound like anything else and are completely revolutionary, but I also believe this album expresses where I am today as a woman and is an evolution of who I am."
Spears says she has evolved and with everything going on it seems she is telling the truth. Her previous two albums saw no promotions at all and with 'Femme Fatale' Britney is going head on, not caring about any kind of tactics that need to be played for publicity. After all, learning from past mistakes is a huge part of maturing!
