akistanis have literally grown up watching Bollywood movies and most of us are inspired by the fashion trends these movies pass on. The best outfits hanging in your wardrobe could well be courtesy to the leading ladies of the industry. We bring you the best fashion trends you should steal.

#1 Anarkalis
Madhubala's ornate Anarkalis continue its reign to date. These are ethnic, fashionable and give you a royal feel while intensifying your femininity. This frock-style shalwar suit is a special outfit for women of today. Bollywood divas often don this style for a classic desi look. If you are looking for something comfortable yet trendy, go for an anarkali kurta teamed up with a shalwar and a beautiful neck piece just like Kareena.

#2 Palazzos
The maverick hippie look came in as Zeenat Aman swayed to the beats of Hare Rama Hare Krishna in her flared pants. They are stylish, flouncy, chic and extremely comfortable. Building an outfit around palazzo pants is way easier than you think. Pair your plazzos with something slim fitting on top for a more balanced look or wear it with a crop top for a more modern avatar.

#3 Polka dots
The polka dots were immortalised by Dimple Kapadia in her debut film Bobby. From crop tops to sarees, this pattern will never go out of fashion. The universal print is apt for all body types and works wonders in almost every style. You can experiment with different colours and sizes while mixing it with absolutely anything of your choice.

#4 Chiffon Sarees
Bollywood’s love for chiffon sarees has made a fashion statement that is here to stay. The industry’s divas stole our hearts while romancing in sheer monotone chiffon sarees even in the freezing temperatures. From Sridevi in Chandni to Priyanka chopra in Desi Girl, the sarees are the epitome of glamour. Chiffon sarees in bright colours look absolutely stunning, pastel colours and classic black are also glamorous picks.

#5 Elaborate lehengas
Bollywood is famous for its portrayal of big fat Indian weddings. From Madhuri’s intricate outfits in Hum Aap Ke Hain Kaun to Deepika’s exuberant Ram Leela wardrobe of traditional ghagra cholis, these movies have countless looks that you can steal for your best friend’s wedding. You can add an oomph factor to your traditional lehenga by pairing it with a cold shoulder blouse.

#6 Long skirts
As time passed, Bollywood leading ladies were seen wearing more comfortable dresses both on and off screen. From Preity Zinta in Lakshya to Alia Bhatt in 2 States, the long skirt with a traditional kurti became a go-to look for many young women. There are numerous chic options to style your long skirt. You can opt for a long waist, flared, printed skirt with a monochrome crop top, off-shoulder top or a simple kurti.

#7 Minimal Kurtis
With Bollywood’s recent portrayal of strong, independent, working women; came a fashion trend that every modern woman swears by. From Rani Mukherji’s funky kurtis in Bunty aur Babli to Deepika’s minimal kurtas in Piku, the kurti is the new fashion staple every desi woman needs in her wardrobe. You can don a kurta with cotton tights, capri pants, plazzos for a stylish look or you can pair it with a shalwar for a more desi look.
