I have just been told that I have type-II diabetes. Can you please tell me what that means and can it be controlled with diet only? What changes should I bring in my lifestyle? R.K.
Type II diabetes mostly occurs in adulthood. In this condition, insulin is produced in a lesser quantity than is required by the body. Treatment depends on the severity of the disease as in mild cases, it can be controlled by diet only. If it's severe, then medication is required. You should make these changes in your lifestyle.
* Eat healthy food.
* Avoid fried stuff and carbonated drinks.
* Quit smoking. l Avoid cheese, butter etc.
* Indulge in regular exercise. l Drink plenty of water.
