Ali Azmat And Fuzon Now On Indie Soundtrack Bandwagon

Ali Azmat is on to doing a soundtrack venture for Mumbai Cutting, a film by Sudhir Mishra, and Indie director and somewhat a friend of Ali Azmat - justified for bagging the soundtrack. It is not a new single they are working on as most of the singers might brag, this one is real and Mishra has chosen the song Sawal from Ali’s much acclaimed album ‘Klashinfolk’. Rumour mill has it that the movie may be out in the market by early 2010.
Another song for friend Mishra’s yet another movie; Ali is actually composing a song titled Tera Kya Ho Ga Johnny. This is not a song from one of his previous albums but an original out of the new mill – churned out by Ali. Lets see what becomes of it and when this song surfaces on the broader scenario.
Fuzon is widely rumoured to be doing a mega ballad song for the same movie, details of which are still a bit fuzzy. According to rumour mill the song Lagay Na Jiya from the album Journey will be used in Mumbai 11 or Mumbai Cutting. Congrats to Fuzon if they bag this opportunity at this time. We are waiting for more rumours to spill out. Till then happy gossiping.
Artist: Sharique Roomi Album: Yaqeen Genre: Pop
After taking time off from the mainstream music scene, Sharique Roomi once again roams in the realms of making exceptional music - exceptional in the sense that this album seems devoted solely to Roomi's fans. It is a monotonous, stereotype extension of Sharique’s past endeavours. Not much has changed since the old days. Sharique somehow has matured but his music is still an effort towards something, some goal which is not apparent in the entire album. It strays from here to there without a definitive approach.
Firstly, the CD presentation is what counts most on a shelf and even for collection. Sadly, the inlay is a job in drab designing with a tired looking Sharique Roomi standing there on the cover almost with the expression 'well here it is and I know what it is, I did it anyhow'. This singer has had a few very good popular hits in the past but it seems that many veterans have not moved on with times to make their music more palatable for the masses nor for the youth - Yakeen from Sharique Roomi is another such effort. The irony is he could have done much better leaving the much dated instrumentation styles and adapting a bit to the hip and trendy music. This includes everything from arrangement, choice of instruments, studio finalising sessions, rendering of every instrument, balancing, and then mastering the music album. Everything is in sync but its a repetition of the past endeavours. You will surely not come across themes and music that depicts anything going on today.
There are ballad styles, rock, blues and pop styles blended in the album in various songs and mostly something lacks somewhere. In such a case the artist usually revamps the album before releasing it and getting a half star rating. But then everyone has their own criteria.
The song Thoda Sa, is about enjoying life but ironically doesn’t seem like Sharique even enjoyed much during the repetitive outdated riffs. It is a good effort but again from someone who has been a good singer in the past should have at least seen to the arrangement rather than what they call it, jhankar and rock, factor of this purely desi home mix. The drums sound as if it’s on a standard loop with the same predictable 1990s breaks and rolls. Cabasas, maracas and percussions - lets just not talk about them at all. Although Sharique did the best possible he could. Even when he tried changing scales during the last stanza of the song it seems an effort of the good old 1989 reprise Roomi. Not the music that’s in run today.
Rest of the songs are almost the same although if you do want to listen to a somewhat different and nice song in this particular album, Chalo Mujhe is a song worth listening. It has its weak moments but it is one song that is much like Rohail Hayat's compositions with Sharique crooning like Junaid Jamshed in his younger days. Good work on this song. On most of the songs the guitars sound much inspired by the famous 1980s’ band POISON if you remember their riffs and progressions. Overall, this album had the potential to make it bigger and better if the right amount of aesthetics were put into it. Nevertheless it follows in a singular pattern.
If you are a Sharique Roomi fan, buy it. Mentioning more on this silicone music disc is not what we'd do. Hope Sharique’s next venture is more mature than this one.
Lady Gaga Confesses To Addiction
The funny thing about celebrities is that they all have a dark side, after all they’re human too, right? Some have drinking problem, others go with cocaine! So is the case of Lady Gaga who recently revealed she was a cocaine addict as she “consumed bags and bags of the drug.” while sitting at home listening to The Cure.
She says, "My cocaine soundtrack was The Cure. I loved all their music, but I listened to this one song on repeat while I did bags and bags of the stuff. At the time I didn't think there was anything wrong with me until my friends came over and said, 'Are you doing this alone?' Um, yes. Me and my mirror."
It seems she was pulled up from the white death road with the help of her father, after once she sank so low she thought she would die.
Simon Cowell Blasts Beatles
Simon has blasted The Beatles, claiming they would have failed auditions on 'The X Factor'.
The music mogul - who once rejected the Spice Girls, the best-selling girl group of all time - says he would have kicked the iconic band off his British TV talent show unless they fired drummer Ringo Starr.
The 49-year-old star said: "If The Beatles came on the show we would have said, 'We'll take those three - Paul McCartney, John Lennon and George Harrison - but probably lose the drummer.'
"With Ringo, I'm afraid, we would have said 'bad news'." Speaking in a US television interview with his 'Britain's Got Talent' co-star Amanda Holden, Simon also revealed what drives him, saying: "I like winning, Amanda. That's what excites me."
Simon is now focusing on the career of Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle, who will perform on the final of 'America's Got Talent' this week.
Her debut album is due for release in November, and is expected to shoot to the top of the charts in America and Britain.
