Meera An ever enduring diva

Pakistan’s entertainment industry is a harsh place for women who dare to age. The film and drama industry is youth-obsessed in general, but age is of particular consequence for female actors, who tend to burn brightest in their 20s. As they approach middle age, their careers dim, the number of available roles diminish, and they start to see themselves replaced by younger starlets. But that wasn’t the case with the timeless beauty, Meera. In a place where the female actors are treated like they have an expiration date, Meera Jee went against the tide and shattered this common perception. She challenged this belief and starred as the lead in 2019’s hit film Baaji. The 43-year-old is enjoying a career renaissance with this blockbuster movie which has been acclaimed internationally as it won big at Mosaic International South  Asian Film Festival in Ontario, Canada and was also screened at the Vancouver International South Asian Film Festival.

Irtiza Rubab, better known by her stage name, Meera, has been appearing in a number of movies and dramas since 1995 and doesn’t plan on slowing down any time soon. She debuted with her 1995 movie Kanta but rose to fame with her critically acclaimed film Khilona in 1999. She won her first Nigar Award for her lead role in Khilona, and received significant praise for her work. With the release of Inteha, another critical and commercial success, she won the second consecutive Nigar Award for Best Actress of the year for her break-out performance.

During the late 1990s, she became an integral part of Lollywood, having acted in movies in Punjabi and Urdu language. In 2004, she played a

prominent role in Salakhain which lifted her image internationally.

In 2005, she made her debut in

Bollywood with a joint Indo-Pakistani film, Nazar. In the year 2011 she starred on the small screen with drama

Bichday Toh Ahsaas Hua. In 2014, she was honoured with Best Actress Award at 3rd Delhi International Film Festival, for her ''out of the box'' performance in psychological thriller film Hotal. In 2016, Meera took the directorial seat and her first project as a director was titled Oscar. Same year she played a popular role of Naseem Dilruba for yet another drama Mein Sitara, which was nominated for Lux Style Awards. In addition, she played a key character in the television series Naagin.

Recently, Meera was seen in films like Shor Sharaba, Jackpot, Baaji, and Parey Hut Love.

And as Lollywood and controversies go hand in hand and Meera Jee being a crucial part of this industry, she always awaits one controversy or another. No doubt that she really is the most consistent drama queen of our industry and we absolutely love her for that. She has been as popular for grabbing eyeballs as grabbing awards for her movies.

Nobody can steal her thunder of being the most controversial actress of Lollywood. Meera has a league of her own when it comes to being on top of the most controversial list. No matter what, she is one such actress that does not shy away from speaking her mind. No doubt, she is the controversy queen and a true entertainer.

Here, we are taking notes from Meera on winter fashion and how to style the dark winter colour palette of black and red. We've just entered the season of wearing dark winter hues. Although our dead-of-winter wardrobes are heavy on the black, we're taking a moment to look ahead at all the glorious colour trends that await us in 2020. We don't know about you, but there's nothing like an excellent power colour to beat the winter blues and that colour for us this year is red. So, along with going all black-on-black, get inspired by this hot colour which is a perfect colour for the winter festivities. Here, the starlet shows us that a red and black velvet outfit with embroidered motifs and lacework can be your go-to outfit for those chilly nights out. Just add the right jewelry and you’re good to go!
