How many people do you know who have created Instagram accounts for their pets? More than you might think. Instagram and TikTok are both perfect places for pet owners to display funny things their animals can do, and the world of pet influencers is a fast-growing industry. Pet Stars features the founder of an agency that represents social media pet influencers. Colleen founded Pets on Q because she saw a chance to get social media pet influencers and their owners – endorsements and other deals to make them money. But she’s mostly in it for the pets, as we see when she drops Charlie off with her friend Jess, a champion dog groomer. She’s reluctant to let Charlie go for a couple of days, but she’s travelling to go to the World’s Ugliest Dog contest. The “ugly pet” niche is one where Colleen really wants to get more clients on her roster, so this is an important chance to network. Along the way, she picks up Melissa May Curtis, her director of operations, and three clients. The idea is if one of their clients wins or does well, the exposure should get the pup and their person influencer opportunities. Heck, just being in the contest will help. So, it’s pretty hard to consider Pet Stars anything but adorable.
