PEMRA bans Jalan for being against its code of ethics

Banned!

For more than a decade, viewers have been captivated by the on-screen drama provided by TV series and reality TV shows. But sometimes, the drama follows the show off-screen – and real-life controversies contribute to a show getting canceled. Recently, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) banned ARY Digital’s Jalan for being controversial. PEMRA’s statement read that “PEMRA had given multiple warning to the channel to revise the content of Jalan, however, the channel administration refused to comply with PEMRA’s code of ethics and it has now been banned under Section 27 of the PEMRA Ordinance.” Jalan starred Emmad Irfani, Areeba Habib and Minal Khan in the lead and the story of the drama revolved around the illicit relationship of a man with his sister-in-law. Previously, PEMRA has banned the repeat telecast of Pyar Ke Sadqay and Ishqiya.
