MEESHA SHAFI ALONG WITH EIGHT OTHERS BOOKED BY FIA FOR FALSE ACCUSATIONS AGAINST ALI ZAFAR

Busted!

In this day and age, with phone records, endless email chains, and people who save three gigs worth of text messages, if you’re going to say something mean about a celebrity, it better be true. Celebrity lawsuits aren’t anything new, but they seem to have been happening more frequently in the last 20 years. The most prevalent cases happen when a celebrity feels like they’ve been slandered – be it by the press, by another celebrity, or just some guy on Twitter. Slander is serious business: If enough people believe a lie about you it can be perceived as real and in the entertainment biz, perception is reality. In 2018, songstress Meesha Shafi accused Ali Zafar of sexual harassment. Both the parties filed suit against each other which is still pending. While Zafar filed a complaint with FIA’s cyber-crime wing in November 2018. According to the complaint, the songster alleged that many accounts on Facebook and Twitter have been involved in a smear campaign against him and most of these accounts were backed by Shafi. According to sources, the hearing took place on 3rd October 2020 and Zafar had asked for a compensation of RS one billion from the songstress as damages to him after she failed to issue an apology and delete the fake tweets within 14 days of a legal notice that was served to her.
