Here’s what Ahad Raza Mir has to say about being a star kid

The debate on nepotism

Nepotism is a hot topic in the entertainment industries around the world these days. Ever since Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide on June 14, the debate on nepotism didn’t just start in Bollywood but also in Pakistan. Earlier, Iffat Omar also made comments on the existence of nepotism in the Pakistani entertainment industry. Ever since the Indian actor’s suicide incident, the focus has been on how talented actors are made to suffer by the high and mighty of the industry. The debate on talent (without a Godfather) versus lineage (children of a star) has been raging. Talking about star kids, Ahad Raza Mir, son of veteran actor Asif Raza Mir, appeared in an interview with Emirati YouTube host Anas Bukhash on his show ABtalks. While talking about people that think that his career and his success as an actor has a lot to do with his father and less with his talent, he said, “My career started doing well and people said it’s cause I’m a star kid. But there are doctors whose kids are doctors, there are generations in the army and generations in politics, no one bats an eye. But as soon as there’s a child of an actor who starts doing well, everyone starts yelling ‘nepotism’.”
