The 2021 Accessory Trend Report

Last year, the fashion scene was drastically affected by the covid-19 restrictions which impacted labels worldwide and collections were showed digitally rather than physically for the first time ever. Gone are the days of never-ending runway shows and streets filled with stylish looks headed straight to our inspiration boards. But while it may look different, the collection presentations shown this year were still filled with must-have accessories, emerging trends and star-studded sightings. Below, we've rounded up some of our favourite accessory trends and looks donned by some of our most stylish divas. Read on:

Get catty

Eyewear devotees, gather around because the 2021 accessory trends include all of our most favourite sunnies: the cat eye! Cat eye sunglasses tend to be the most feminine and flattering shape and they add a touch of glamour and sophistication to any look.

Heavy hardware

Statement jewellery is obviously not a new trend. Chunky chains dominated the runways of 2020, and super-sized hoops were big last year too. But come 2021, you’ll see hardware, chains, and hoops evolve even further, and enter the oversized realm.

Pearl party

If the prospect of piling on statement jewellery speaks to you, but your neck, ears and wrists are not about to handle heavy hardware, then you may want to opt for one of 2021’s more timeless jewellery trends: pearls. Apart from jewellery, pearls will also be seen adorned on outfits as mismatched accents.

Trendy tote

This year’s buzziest bag to hit the fashion scene is the super trendy and nifty tote bag. A forever favourite among fashion insiders, the discreet accessory is a true classic because it has major staying power. The tote bag is a practical piece that will always come in handy whether you’re going on a grocery run or need a little extra room for a laptop.

Just jhumkas

Jhumkas were never really out of fashion. They are a fashion staple all year round. Whether it is a wedding, a party or any outing, having a pair of traditionally crafted jhumkas can completely change your look!

Bangles are back

When sifting through the collections of designers for 2021 a startling realisation occurred: bangles were subtly everywhere as if they had escaped from the back of our minds. Whether it be bangles stacked to the brim, matching pairs or single statement ones, the evidence has made it very clear that bangles are very much back in business.
