Asim Abbasi is all set to direct an episode of ‘The Famous Five’

Achievement unlocked

We don’t know about you, but we grew up reading Enid Blyton’s The Famous Five novels so when we heard the novels were being turned into a live-action TV show, we were thrilled. Hearing that British-Pakistani director Asim Abbasi will be directing one of the episodes has made the news even more exciting. You probably know Abbasi for his work on Churails, the Sarwat Gilani-led show, or Cake the movie starring Sanam Saeed and Aamina Sheikh. He was also recently announced as the director of British Muslim comedy series Count Abdulla. The Famous Five, for the uninitiated, is about four cousins and their pet dog who go on adventures and solve mysteries. The cast for the show has been announced – Diaana Babnicova will play the role of George, Elliott Rose will play Julian, Kit Rakusen plays Dick and Flora Jacoby Richardson plays Anne. Other stars of the show include Game of Thrones’i0 Jack Gleeson, Moon Knight’s Ann Akinjirin, Ted Lasso’s James Lance and Father Brown’s Diana Quick. Abbasi will be directing the second episode of the series, which has been written by Priya K Dosanjh. Filming is currently underway and no release date has been announced yet.
