THE DOWRY SYSTEM IN SOCIETY
the persisting issue of the dowry system in our society. While many countries have made significant progress in eradicating this harmful practice, it continues to plague our communities, perpetuating inequality and leading to dire consequences for women and their families. The dowry system, a centuries-old tradition, has no place in our modern society. It involves the transfer of substantial wealth or gifts from the bride's family to the groom's family as part of the marriage arrangement. This practice not only puts undue financial burdens on the bride's family but also commodifies women as objects to be bought and sold in marriage. It reinforces the notion that a woman's worth is determined by her family's ability to provide material wealth, rather than her individual qualities, skills, and character.
Furthermore, the dowry system often leads to various forms of abuse and violence against brides who may not meet their husband's family's expectations regarding the dowry's value. Cases of harassment, physical abuse, and even dowry-related deaths are shockingly common. It is heartbreaking to see young women suffering due to a tradition that has long outlived its relevance. It is high time that we, as a society, recognize the dowry system's detrimental impact and take concerted efforts to eliminate it. We must promote marriages based on love, respect, and equality rather than material transactions. This change will not only benefit women but also lead to a more just and equitable society for all.

CONCERNS OVER DETERIORATING ROAD CONDITIONS IN KARACHI
The deplorable state of our city's road infrastructure has affected the daily lives and safety of the residents of Karachi. The state of our roads has reached an alarming level, and it is affecting the lives of Karachi's citizens in numerous ways. Potholes, uneven surfaces, and poorly maintained roads are leading to an increasing number of accidents and injuries. Pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists are all at risk due to these hazardous road conditions. Bad road conditions contribute to traffic congestion as drivers slow down to navigate through damaged sections of the road. This results in longer commute times and increased frustration for commuters. The poor state of our roads is not only a public safety concern but also has economic implications. Businesses face difficulties in transporting goods, leading to increased costs, and investors may be discouraged from investing in the city. Dust and pollution caused by road disrepair contribute to respiratory problems among the residents, affecting the overall health and well-being of the population. It is evident that immediate action is needed to address these issues. I would like to request the relevant authorities to take work on road maintenance. Regular and effective maintenance of roads is essential. Potholes and damaged sections need to be repaired promptly to ensure the safety of commuters. Improved traffic management is crucial to alleviate congestion. This includes synchronized traffic signals, efficient road signage, and better planning for road repairs to minimize disruption.
