Model Erica Robin makes history at the Miss Universe 2023 competition

First time in history

Nicaragua's Sheynnis Palacios was crowned Miss Universe 2023 at the 72nd edition of the pageant, held this year in El Salvador. In a first, Pakistan's first entry at the beauty pageant, Erica Robin, made it to the top 20 in the competition. Palacios received the crown and sash from her predecessor, R'Bonney Gabriel from the United States. This is the first time a contestant from Nicaragua has won the contest, with Thailand's Anntonia Porsild and Australia's Moraya Wilson rounding out the top three. While Erica gets ready for her next big steps, fashion enthusiasts and admirers still want to know more about the first Miss Universe Pakistan. The model's support of many humanitarian organisations was highlighted in a recent Harper's Bazaar Arabia story. As Miss Universe Pakistan, the beauty queen passionately took part in a Down syndrome awareness month event. Erica also joined the Red Cross Youth Philippines, making her a vital member of the Red Cross family. “I have a great deal of responsibility and am under a great deal of strain. But I won't do anything that would damage the country’s reputation," Erica said.
