KBC gets its youngest Crorepati ever as 14-year-old Mayank scripts history

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan-hosted game show, Kaun Banega Crorepati, crowned its youngest-ever ‘Crorepati’ recently, as 14-year-old Haryana boy named Mayank won INR 1 crore. The episode was part of the special KBC Juniors Week. Mayank, who hails from Mahendragarh, Haryana, featured as the young contestant. The eighth grader played an excellent game and surprised everyone by not using a single lifeline and winning INR 3.2 lakh. He used his first lifeline for the INR 12.5 lakh question.

Mayank was in tears when he answered the mega INR 1cr. question, which made everyone erupt with joy. The big question was: “Which European Cartographer is credited with creating the map that has the name America to the newly discovered continent?” Mayank was given four options, A- Abraham Ortelius, B- Geradus Mercator, C- Giovanni Battista Agnese, and D- Martin Waldseemüller. The correct answer was Martin Waldseemuller. Mayank answered the question successfully and became the first junior contestant to win the top prize money. He then attempted to answer the INR 7 crore question, but quit the game.

Mayank was also congratulated by Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar, who shared a clip from KBC along with visuals of the boy talking to his father. The CM called him a “genius”.
