Veteran Pakistani actor Khalid Butt passed away in Lahore

Prominent Pakistani actor and director Khalid Butt passed away in Lahore at the age of 76 due to complications related to kidney and liver diseases, as reported by local news.
Butt was a famous Pakistani television, film and theatre actor. The Multan-born actor began his career in 1970 as an assistant director of films. In 1978, he got the chance to perform as an actor. He played the role of hero in his first serial and became a known face. He has worked in numerous hit PTV serials. Recently, he made a comeback on television with dramas like Jeevan Nagar on Green Entertainment and his most recent production was the currently on-air Faysal Quraishi and Durefishan Saleem-starrer drama serial Khaie, in which he played Quraishi’s father.
He also directed a film over the course of his career and was a recipient of the Pride of Performance award for his services to the entertainment industry. He was known for appearing in various PTV productions such as Janjaal Pura (1997), Boota from Toba Tek Singh (1999), Landa Bazar (2002). His later appearances include Love, Life Aur Lahore (2011-2013), Laal Ishq (2017) and GT Road (2019).
Faysal Quraishi, his Khaie co-star, posted a video on Instagram in which he reminisced about the actor and their journey together. They both acted in the hit drama serial Boota to Toba Tek Singh together as well. He discussed how Butt would be quite unwell during the shoot and was in pain. The news of Khalid Butt’s death was shared by another veteran PTV actor Mohsin Gillani on his Instagram account. He posted Khalid Butt’s picture along with a sad caption, announcing his demise. Many Pakistani artists took to social media and paid homage to the veteran actor. Condolences were also shared online by actors Hina Khawaja Bayat, Sami Khan, Tipu Sharif and Saba Qamar. Punjab Caretaker Minister for Information and Culture Amir Mir also shared a tribute for the late actor on X.
