It was a night of stars where art and creativity ruled. The 90th Academy Awards, which recently took place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, is certainly the most anticipated events of the year where every nominee steps on the red carpet dreaming about the most coveted trophy in their hands followed by nights of preparing their acceptance speeches.

Turned out that The Shape of Water picked up the most number of Oscars with four wins – Best Picture, Best Director, Best Score and Best Production Design, triumphing over masterpieces like Dunkirk, Lady Bird and Get Out. Frances McDormand won an award for Best Actress in a Leading Role and left the audience applauding her feisty speech demanding gender equality in the entertainment industry. The evening also saw attendees and presenters sharing their two cent on the rising cases of sexual misconduct being reported in the wake of Harvey Weinstein controversy surrounding Hollywood.

This year’s Oscar awards were politically charged, and rightfully so. From the host to the presenters and the winners, everyone contributed to the most pressing issues surrounding not just Hollywood but also politics and governance in the United States.
