Q: Hello! I am 37 years old and have been feeling this strange pulsing pain at the back of my neck for almost two weeks now, after having lifted a heavy water can. I initially ignored the pain thinking it will gradually go away but it kept increasing. It is now difficult for me to even move my head because of the pain. I haven’t seen a doctor for this problem because I didn’t think of it as a big deal. Please tell me what should I do? Tehreem

A: Dear Tehreem, the pain in your neck could be due to a muscle sprain caused by the heavy weight you lifted earlier, however, it won’t be wise to rule out the possibility of a cervical nerve compression. It is advised that you consult a doctor as soon as possible to avoid increasing nerve related issues.
