If we are being honest, we wear denim almost every single day. We love how you can dress it up or down, and there are so many flattering styles that never fail to make us feel like a sartorial queen – especially with the influx of high-waisted and vintage-inspired denim looks these past few years. If you’ve also been loving the recent denim styles, you’ll be glad to hear that the 2020 jean trends are full of your favourites. Based on both the runways and street style looks, we have predicted all the stunning denim trends you’re sure to see everywhere in 2020.

Denim with turn-ups

What used to be a necessary styling trick for those with shorter figures to avoid a trip to the tailor has turned into a micro-trend in and of itself.

Denim in distress

Unlike ripped jeans, this distressed jeans trend doesn’t feature full-on rips – although it gets pretty close. Rather, you’ll come across lighter patches along the front and back and some whiskering for a broken-in look. At most, some wearing away at the surface, so that the white threads are exposed.

Dad denim

The resurgence of dad denim is one that’s been championed by high-end designers. This trend is all about an unfussy, unpretentious look.

Rip it up!

Because the fashion universe knows we can’t wait for our parents to comment on our ‘torn’ jeans (eye roll), ripped denim is on-trend for 2020.

Boot-cut or flared

Boot-cut or flared jeans are back. This style is very 70s mixed with a little bit of the early 2000s, so go ahead and grow your hair long and grab a poncho to achieve the full look.

White denim

White jeans can still fill men with trepidation, especially in the season of barbecues and sitting on grass. But despite the fear, this trend has been vastly seen this year.

High rise

More fabric, please. High rise jeans are here, and we are pretty happy about it. This style of denim is perfect for pairing with feminine blouses or cropped sweaters.

Front seams

Front seams and ribbing (and pleats, for that matter) are trending for the year. Wear them in a variety of silhouettes, from paper-bag to skinny styles.

Distressed denim

We have some distressing news: the distressed trend is sticking around for another year. This year’s distressed denim comes in all forms of ripped, bleached and raw edging.
