Unilever has announced to remove the words ‘whitening’ and ‘lightening’ from their product descriptions. Which means Fair n Lovely will no more be called fair and lovely. But with the products being used for the same old purposes will it really be of some help? Their beauty line which is of immense demand in the Subcontinent, because of our society’s beauty standards is now moving towards a more progressive language. “We're committed to a skin portfolio that's inclusive of all skin tones, celebrating the diversity of beauty. That's why we're removing the word 'fairness', 'whitening' and 'lightening' from our products, and changing the Fair & Lovely brand name,” said Unilever.
