Vanessa Hudgens's nighttime routine is a full-on ritual with night candles, silk pajamas, and a vast collection of skincare tools, many of which come from her exciting new collaborated skincare brand with Madison Beer, Know Beauty. According to Hudgens, her skincare process is one that she's come to genuinely enjoy and that she continually evolves. "I have fallen in love with skincare as I've gotten older," says the actress, "partly because, you know, you start to see little things and you're like, 'Wait, what is that? That wasn't there a few years ago.'" She adds that while used to have great skin growing up, alcohol and dairy have become her biggest enemies. "I turned 21 and started drinking wine and eating cheese," she adds. "Man, my skin hated it – I was just getting breakouts, left and right."

Now, she continues to experiment day by day with a vast array of skincare products, which she switches up depending on how her skin feels. Hudgens shares with a publication just one of these templates. Below is her step by step skincare routine before bed and the products she uses. Read on:

Cleanser

No matter your skin type, a gentle cleanser that won't strip your skin of natural oil and disrupt your skin's microbiome (read: cause irritation) is essential.

After lighting her candles and throwing on silk, Hudgens begins her routine with Know Beauty's Purifying Cleanser, a gentle exfoliant containing grapefruit and hyaluronic acid for a deeply moisturising, brightening, and detoxifying cleanse.

Mask

You’ve found the best facial cleanser, moisturiser, and serum for your skin type and concerns, but if you’re looking to take your nighttime skincare routine to the next level, it’s time to start using an overnight face mask. The perfect addition to a nightly skin care regimen, sleep face masks are easy to use and often pack a ton of beauty benefits.

The actress also uses a nighttime face mask religiously. After using a cleanser, she next applies Know Beauty's Bubbling Oxygen Mask, an airtight thick fluid that slowly bubbles and oxygenates the skin, thereby revitalising skin cells.

Serum

What’s better than getting a good night’s sleep after a long day? Getting a good night’s rest while improving your complexion. Enter night serums, the multitasking skin superheroes that do their best work at night.

Hudgens is well aware of the wonders of a night serum and for "a shot of vitamins for the skin," she opts for Know Beauty’s Resurfacing Night Serum, comprised of retinoid hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, and vitamin E, all of which are especially suitable for drier skin types, according to Hudgens.

Beauty roller

If you’re a beauty lover with an Instagram account, you’ve probably seen images of the gorgeous, light-green face rollers that are currently trending everywhere. Otherwise known as a jade face roller, these handheld tools make for more than just a pretty picture – they can have some real skin-boosting benefits, too! They are used to massage your face and help stimulate blood flow. They also spread whatever products you use evenly onto the skin, which is really the overall goal.

The actress has the Skin Gym's Face Sculptor Beauty Roller in her nighttime beauty ritual, which she uses to de-puff congested areas on her face and define her cheekbones. “I love a really aggressive rolling moment," she says, and adds that the roller is among the many tools in her accumulating skincare collection that she enjoys experimenting with to further acquaint herself with her skin. "I have so many random things," shares Hudgens. "I always just kind of collect things when it comes to skincare and see what works."

Scent

Finally, to help her sleep better at night, she reveals her go-to perfume of choice: Maison Margiela's REPLICA By the Fireplace. "So cute," says Hudgens of the bottle. "[Its scents are] based off of times and places," she adds. "So this is like France, 1971, burning wood chestnuts. Mm."
