Style & Sensuality

Here’s how fashion is rewriting the rules

Fashion is an ever evolving and vibrant segment. Pakistani consumers are getting more and more conscious regarding their looks. Their preference grows towards ethnic apparels with a touch of modernity. A contemporary fashion getting popular in recent times is fusion wear. This is a creative blend of styles of any two or more culture. Silhouettes are basically from Western influence, and are blended with Pakistani textile and styling.

This trend offers umpteen choices for fashion savvy shoppers who are ready to experiment with variations in styles. Not only are they stylish, but also make the wearer to stand out in the crowd. Designers have been taking inspiration from the East and West to create novel attires.

When fashion goes fusion, kurta becomes a tunic or a poncho, dupatta becomes a stole or a cape; and shalwar becomes a pair of trousers. Pakistani outfits can be given a Western touch with creativity in waistlines, cuts in fabric, necklines, and other decorations.

For instance, this head-to-toe white shirt paired with white pants gets a ravishing look with asymmetrical sleeves. It’s one sleeve features a frill design while the other one is sort of a poncho featuring ruffles.

Capes are yet another way to add modernity to your otherwise desi outfit. If you're tired of lugging around heavy dupattas, allow these flowy beauties to become a mainstay in your festive wardrobe, especially a sheer embroidered and embellished cape. A sheer organza cape, either separate or attached to your main outfit, can take your style quotient up a notch.

Also, if you’re tired of the same old embellished sleeves and are looking for something to revamp your festive wardrobe, just simple forget sleeves and opt for a poncho. Not just reserved for winters and Western wear anymore, the poncho silhouette has taken over the festive world by storm in the form of embellished gowns.

Take inspiration from this lavender poncho gown with an embellished bodice.

And while going the fusion way for your outfits, don’t forget to opt for jewellery that compliments the fusion fashion theme. For instance, go for chunky bracelets instead of chooriyan, go for geometric ear pieces instead of jhumkas and as for rings, versatile stoned rings would work just fine.
