Sonya Hussyn will be playing the role of a female cop in her upcoming drama

Asked to name the top male TV cops of all time wouldn’t pose a difficult challenge. The genre is dominated by hard-bitten, good men who push the line to get justice. But these days, it’s really female cops on TV who are driving cult-like fandom for shows. Though this genre is more prominent in Hollywood and even Bollywood now, Pakistani entertainment industry is also slowly and steadily warming up to the idea of representing female police officer in dramas. The most recent Pakistani actress to take on this role is Sonya Hussyn. The Ishq Zahe Naseed starlet took to her social media and revealed her new avatar. “Female police officers are unbelievably underrated for their strength and they deserve more representation! It gives me great honour to be announcing my next disposition, SP Sara Sikandar!” she wrote along with her first look in a police uniform. According to her post, the drama is written by playwright Umera Ahmed and directed by Adnan Sarwar. The title for the drama is yet to be revealed.
