After two successful seasons, The Movies That Made Us is back for a third installment. Unlike the previous seasons, which only had four episodes each, season three has eight episodes for the audiences to enjoy. The third season begins with a trio of beloved Halloween films: Halloween, Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street. After which, the show moves its focus onto Robocop, Aliens and Coming to America before concluding with two Christmas classics: Nightmare Before Christmas and Elf. The runtime of each episode is approximately 45 minutes. The set-up of The Movies That Made Us is very quirky. The comedic use of its voiceover, blended with excellent interview shots, makes this one of the better “making of” documentaries. The charm present throughout makes it an entertaining watch, even if you might not be a big fan of the film discussed. Naturally, with this kind of show, you may be likely to skip the episodes of the films that you aren’t that as interested in. As would be the case with this kind of show, there’s a range of facts in each episode. Such as, after the shocking success of Halloween, Friday the 13th was created to be a rip-off and to cash in on the slasher success. If you like these facts, there are plenty more for you to discover.
