Once upon a time, in a land near and dear and a time not too long ago, women on television generally fell into one of two categories: the happy homemaker, or the single woman who may have a career but is mainly looking for a husband. And whereas a woman’s choice to be any of these things is wonderful, most homemakers generally do not do their chores in pearls, pumps and perfectly pressed dresses, and women have proven that they are adept at careers beyond the traditional. Thankfully, trailblazing women have given life to a variety of female characters through the years. Although change and advancement have been gradual (as in real life), we now have all kinds of women represented on television including unapologetic women breaking the stereotype of women only being an epitome of patience, sacrifice, endurance and more. One such show is the upcoming Zee5 Global original series Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam. The series features an eclectic cast comprising of leading actors from the subcontinent including Ahsan Khan, Osman Khalid Butt, Sheheryar Munawar, Saleem Mairaj, Samiya Mumtaz, Sanam Saeed, Sarwat Gilani, Mehar Bano, Faiza Gillani, Beo Raana Zafar and Eman Suleman and is helmed by British Indian director Meenu Gaur. The drama is set in the timeless lanes of a mythical neighbourhood, and showcases stories of love, lust, power, and redemption woven in a web of betrayal, angst, and revenge. Each story from the anthology depicts the fearlessness of women and their determination to avenge deceit. At the core of the stories is mystery, suspense, intrigue with twist endings.
