The Anglo-Irish Treaty signed between the British and Irish representatives in 1921 paved the way for the establishment of the Dominion of the British Empire. The state lasted until December 1937.

The popular performing arts venue in Covent Garden London houses the Royal Opera and the Royal Ballet.

The international organisation was formed by Belarus, Ukraine, and the Russian Federation as a political forum for members of the former Soviet Union.


09 December, 1965 – Charlie Brown Christmas airs for the first time on television

The popular animated musical special about Christmas was based on Charles M. Schulz's comic strip called Peanuts. The special was critically acclaimed as a telling commentary on the loss of the spirit of Christmas among Americans.


10 December, 2001 – Release of the first film in the Lord of the Rings trilogy

The award winning movie called The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring was directed by Peter Jackson and was based on J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings.
