In Full Bloom

Equal parts elegant and romantic, these floral pieces will add a playful touch to your closet

While the immortal line, “Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.”, by Miranda Priestly from The Devil Wears Prada, is forever etched into our fashion rule book, we would like to contest that florals are no longer limited to spring. Spotted in almost every new collection of an A-list designers, florals are indeed groundbreaking for year-round dressing.

That said, for decades, florals have provided fodder and inspiration for countless designers – spliced with new patterns, reinterpreted in inventive textiles and textures, and nurtured in unusual shapes and sizes. For some, this experimentation has become a part of their brand’s very DNA.

Florals have long been a favoured motif within the upper echelons of fashion. Whether roses, daisies, or hyacinths; blossoming in bright colours or slowly wilting away, the garden variety print perseveres from season to season. A mainstay in our wardrobes and a budding new neutral, it pairs perfectly with statement colours and patterns, laying the foundation of any eye-catching ensemble.

Here, the designer has made her proclivity for feminine florals obvious through her sartorial choices. Energising, and vibrant, these prints have reemerged in spectacularly fun ways. These pieces make a strong case for making florals wearable all year round. Kurtis, capes, kameez’s, and a lot more has got a dose of major flower power. And whether or not we can jet off to far-flung locales, these retro-inspired prints are sure to take you on a trip. They are cheery and overall co-conspirators in spreading exuberance surrounding the summer, spring and seasons to come. As the weather makes room for more blossoming prints, give into the cliché and get your hands on some florals.
