Siyani

7th Sky Entertainment's latest offering, Siyani, starring Mohsin Abbas Haider, Anmol Baloch, Saniya Shamsheed, and Usama Khan in lead roles, made an average opening last week.

Written by Sadia Akhtar and directed by Ali Akbar, the drama was based on a clichéd plot of good vs bad. The story revolved around two cousins, Kiran, (Anmol Baloch) and Ujala (Saniya Shamsheed). Kiran was greedy and selfish. She liked to take shortcuts in life to fulfill her monetary wishes.

Like any other run-of-the-mill drama, it also had a second female lead, Ujala. She was naïve, sweet, and innocent. Her parents were no more. She now lived in Kiran's house with her married sister.

In a clichéd situation, Kiran met Zarbab(Mohsin Abbas Haider), a handsome young man of an affluent family. The moment Zarbab saw Kiran, he got awe-struck by her beauty and couldn't take his eyes off her. Kiran took advantage of the situation and framed him in love.

Ten episodes’ down, the drama moved at a fast pace. Kiran got married to Zarbab on her conditions (demanding a hefty amount of Rs 2 crores as Haq Mehr). After entering the house, she started manipulating the situation.

On her wedding night, she created a big scene when she blamed her in-laws for not taking proper care of her. Zarbab, while being completely blind in her love, badly yelled at his family. However, Zarbab's father sorted out the situation and asked Zarbab to take care of his wife.

As far as acting was concerned, Anmol Baloch was the star here. We hated her as selfish Kiran as she bought the required bitchness to her role. Saniya Shamshed was good as innocent Ujala but she needed to up her game, otherwise, her character would look dull and boring.

Mohsin Abbas Haider and Usama Khan also played their part convincingly.

Wehshi

Produced by MD Productions and directed by Iqbal Hussain, the drama serial was based on Razia Butt's famous novel and dramatized by Shumaila Zaidi.

The ensemble cast included Khushhal Khan, Komal Meer, Nadia Khan, and Babar Ali.

The drama narrated the stories of two small kids, Sobia and Asif. Sobia was a middle-class girl and a victim of her father’s abuse. He considered her a bad omen for the family as he faced huge loss in business after her birth.

Asif, the boy from an affluent family, was an apple of her parent's eyes. He was blessed to have a lovely father and doting mother who fulfilled his wishes like a command.

The lives of both kids turned upside down when their fathers died in unfortunate incidents. Sobia was happy to find out about her father's death as nobody was there to offend her feelings. On the other hand, Asif was completely distressed at the loss. He and his mother, Muneera (Nadia Khan) lost financial stability and got dependent on their selfish relatives.

Muneera’s Bhabhi never left the opportunity to hurt the innocent child – and her cruelty left serious impacts on the child’s psyche. He started getting aggressive and also adopted bad habits such as stealing.

To secure Asif’s future, Muneera accepted her brother’s offer to get remarried to a widower, Majid (Babar Ali).

Majid had a son Aamir from his first wife. After marrying Muneera he was sweet to Asif but with time his attitude got changed and he started physically abusing him. Majid’s attitude further deteriorated Asif’s mental health – turning him into a psychologically-disturbed child.

The drama lead actors Khushal Khan and Komal Meer have yet to make an appearance in the serial. The promos of the drama have already gained our attention showing Khushal Khan as an angry young man. We are definitely looking forward to seeing how his character unfolds with time.

Coming to the performances, the mind-blowing acts of child artists was the highlight of the drama. They put a great show in engrossing the audience with their compelling act.

Mere Humnasheen

A Geo blockbuster drama serial that has been reigning on the trending charts on social media with its compelling plot and power-packed performances.

The drama serial is written by Misbah Ali Syed, directed by Ali Faizan, and produced by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi. The cast includes Hiba Bukhari, Ahsan Khan, Shahzad Sheikh, Syed Jibran, and Rehan Sheikh.

The drama narrated a story of a young girl, Khajista (Hiba Bukhari), belonging to the mountainous Paktoon territory. Her dream was to become a doctor to help the deprived people of her region. The girl lost her mother in childhood due to the non-availability of female medical staff in her area. She never wanted the same happen with any other child in her area.

The drama protagonist fought against all odds to fulfill her dream. Initially, her fiery fiancé cum cousin Darakhazi created problems for her. However, she remained resolute to her goal that even forced Darakhazi to change his attitude. Later, he emerged as her biggest supporter.

At the university, Khajista met Dr. Hadi (Shahzad Sheikh). Keeping a soft corner for Khajista, he supported her whenever needed.

However, Hadi’s brother Hassan and cousin, Aima (Moomal Khalid) had issues with Khajista. They created hurdles in her way – and schemed her into a drug controversy. Fortunately, our headstrong protagonist escaped from all their evil plans and cleared a degree with distinction.

The highlight of the drama was its powerful script - the sentimental dialogues hit hard on you. The struggle of an underprivileged girl to make big in the city was so real that you relate to it at every moment.

Now, the story had reached to its climax and the last episode was full of surprises. Khajista was getting married to Darakhazi while leaving Hadi distressed and lonely.

The biggest twist came when someone poisoned Darakhazi on the wedding day. The poor guy lost the battle of life. The celebration suddenly turned into mourning – Khajista was grief-stricken over Darakhazi's death. Lala was furious and wanted to get hold of the culprit soonest possible.

As a viewer, we found Darakhazi’s demise mournful because he was the biggest entertainer in the serial – his cute banter with Khajista, and his super-caring attitude towards her made us his fan.

The death of Darakhazi somehow opened the door for Dr. Hadi to enter Khajista’s life again. How would it happen? For that we have to wait for a few more episodes.

Coming back to the performances, all the artists had put their best foot forward but Hiba Bukhari won our hearts. It was one of the finest performances of her career.

Ahsan Khan and Shehzad Shiekh had played their part well. Other supporting actors like Rehan Sheikh, Farhan Ali Agha, Momina Iqbal, and Moomal Khalid had also done a fab job.

However, we wished we could see a lot more of Syed Jibran in the drama. In the beginning, he impressed us as Khajista’s supportive brother but later his part was limited to a few scenes that wasn’t fair with an artist of such a high caliber.
