Miley Cyrus returns to music with empowering new breakup song Flowers

After weeks of teasing that new music was on the horizon, Miley Cyrus just dropped her highly-anticipated single, Flowers. In her latest track, the Voice alum sings all about being able to ‘love me better than you can’. Miley seems to call out an ex by singing about how they ‘built a home and watched it burn / I didn't want to leave / I didn't want to lie / Started to cry but then remembered I / I can buy myself flowers’. The empowering video shows her working out and gaining her strength, embracing her self-love and independence after a split. The singer's song comes nearly two weeks after she first dropped hints about her return to music, sharing a quick soundbite of the single Dec. 31. In her original announcement, she revealed the release date of the track would be Jan 13 – which also happens to be her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth's birthday. And though Miley has not commented on whether her latest song was meant to debut on her ex's birthday, her lyrics still speak of self-love reigning supreme over a seemingly ill-fated romance.
