Ingredients

· 4 cup milk

· ¾ cup sugar

· 1 cup powdered milk

· ½ teaspoon cardamom

· 1 pinch saffron

· 4 slices of bread

· Oil or ghee, to shallow fry

· Pistachio and almonds to garnish

Method

Heat 3½ cups of milk in a pan. Add sugar, cardamom, saffron and powdered milk. Fry the bread in oil or ghee on low flame until crispy golden. Dry the excess oil on kitchen towel. Place fried bread on a dish. Cook milk syrup for 30 minutes until thick and deep yellow. Pour the thick milk syrup (running consistency) on the bread slices and bake on 175°C for 10 minutes, until bread puffs up and syrup boils. Garnish with roasted pistachios and almonds. Enjoy!
