Tom Cruise defends controversial tirade against the crew of Mission: Impossible

Tom Cruise is firmly standing by his explicit rant on the set of Mission: Impossible in December. Five months ago, the movie's star and producer chastised some members of the crew for breaking COVID-19 protocols. "I have told you and if you don't do it you're out. We are not shutting this movie down! Is it understood?" Cruise said, according to an audio recording published by The Sun. In a new interview, Cruise defended his rebuke of the team. "I said what I said," he reflected. He clarified that he didn't berate the "entire crew," but rather asked everyone to leave except for some people that he then criticised. The Top Gun star admitted he became emotional in the heat of the moment, while he thought about the ramifications of shutting down production again due to the ongoing pandemic. About a week after news broke of his on-set rant, the crew took some time off for a holiday break. The insider justified Cruise's response by saying the filmmaker is "a perfectionist and wants things done in a certain way."

Katie Holmes and Emilio Vitolo Jr. broke up after less than a year together

Katie Holmes's romance with Emilio Vitolo Jr. has officially flamed out. A spokesperson for the actress told Us Weekly that she and the New York City-based restaurateur "have parted ways amicably but remain friends." Back in September 2020, the notoriously private Dawson's Creek star surprised fans when photographers spotted them in Manhattan. Over the next months, they made their romance public on several occasions, however things between the pair evidently soured in recent weeks. "Their relationship fizzled," an insider told. "They figured out they're better off as friends... Katie and Emilio really enjoyed their time together – it just didn't work out. She's focusing on being a mom and her upcoming projects." While Katie avoided ever discussing their relationship publicly, Emilio's Instagram page was home to multiple heartfelt tributes to his now ex-girlfriend. Despite going separate ways, Katie and Emilio's professional relationship will continue. He's starring in the short film Almost a Year, which Katie produced. It's set to premiere at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival in June.
