Faryal Mehmood made certain remarks on Hareem Farooq’s weight and felt it wasn’t body shaming

Unacceptable!

Can you imagine a world where everyone looks the same? A world where body measurements and whatever standards deemed ideal by society would be met by every single person? It would be pretty boring. We come in all shapes and sizes, and that should be celebrated, not demonised. Celebrities, however, are exposed to much wider audience, and their image is constantly under harsh scrutiny by the public and the media and sometimes their fellow celebrities. Recently, an actor that body shamed her fellow actor was Faryal Mehmood, who during a talkshow revisited an incident where she joked about Hareem’s weight saying, "They asked me if I had a car with three seats and could only choose a few people to sit in the car with me, who would I choose. The rest were my friends, so I only took their names. The show host then asked whether I would have Hareem in the car with me and I said no and then cracked a small joke, saying that Hareem wouldn't fit. Hareem really minded this joke of mine." But Mehmood didn’t seem to realise that her “joke” wasn’t so harmless and was indeed her body shaming Farooq. She believes that if someone has been fat, they can joke about another person’s weight. She said, “Yes, it is considered bad, but because I have been through the journey, I know what body shaming does. If former fat people make jokes about body shaming, it isn't a big deal."
