Kubra Khan opens up about her experience with body shaming on the internet

Online trolls

It takes a different kind of courage to stand tall in the face of malicious, targeted and constant criticism, and not many can claim to have it. Cyber bullying and web trolling has claimed several victims, be it through suicides or through self-esteem and depression issues that last a lifetime. Internet use has brought with it a new set of problems. While most of us from the ‘library over Internet, and coffee dates over online chatting’ generation consider bullying, physical and verbal abuse and violence as very real ‘crimes’; today’s generation has a new set of terms to add to the lot – such as web trolling and cyber bullying! Most at risk to these attacks are celebrities and one such celebrity to have fallen prey to cyber bullying and web trolling is Kubra Khan. While talking to a publication, Khan revealed how after a surgery she gained weight through emotional eating. Along with dealing with her hectic schedules and post-op care, she had to deal with body shamers and their insensitive comments. Body shaming of celebrities is now so common that it has lost some of its shock value, yet fat-shaming needs to stop for everyone, not just celebrities.
