NGO SAMAAJ uses animation to help in fight against crimes of abuse of young girls

Socially responsible

Many of us are well aware of the impact media has on children in the early stages of their lives. It may seem as if popular animated TV shows and movies are all about fun and imagination, while that is certainly an aspect of it, the subtle, more subconscious messaging that gets told through this medium cannot be ignored. Bringing awareness to children via animation is a Lahore based non-profit organisation SAMAAJ which has released a 2D animated series called Super Sohni. The series introduce a new superhero fighting valiantly against crimes of sexual abuse of young girls. Super Sohni has about 10 episodes. The ambassador of Germany to Pakistan, Bernhard Schlagheck, recently launched Super Sohni’s teaser on social media with a caption that read as, "A very engaging project that can hopefully equip many children with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to stay safe from harm."
