Yet another Indian song rips off Pakistani content, claims Shuja Haider

PLAGIARISM DISPUTES

In today’s age of music and art, it’s not as easy as you might think to produce a brand new song without being accused of plagiarising another artist. Virtually every topic has already been covered in a song, and there are only so many note combinations, which can make it difficult to create a song that is completely different from everything else. Plagiarism accusations and copyright infringement lawsuits are nothing new in music. Plagiarism happens in music, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose. Sometimes it's "unconscious borrowing", other times it's a "musical homage". But what Indian Music directors Yasser Desai and Rashid Khan did was straight away a rip off. Singer and composer Shuja Haider recently took to his social media to raise his concern over the alarming similarity between an Indian song Piya Re Piya and his original song Baaghi. The singer posted on Instagram to share the Indian song along with a caption that read as, "Indian Music directors Yasser Desai and Rashid Khan copied my original song Baaghi and I am not proud of it. Absolutely not!"
