CHATTERBOX

@nchrofficial is raising awareness on the important issue of #minorityright. Christians are 1.6% of the population of Pakistan they represent over 80% of the sanitation workforce. This points to discrimination.

Christian minorities in Pakistan are less likely to find good work than their Muslim counterparts, even when born and educated in the same country. While we know that ethnic discrimination in hiring is pervasive and enduring, National Commission for Human Rights Pakistan raises awareness on the very topic and actor Ahsan Khan promotes their cause.

If we had teenaged daughters, we would dream the best life for them, achieving their full potential. I doubt that plan would involve getting married to middle-aged predatory men, especially in countries where women have few rights. That is no dream my friends, it is a nightmare.

Pakistan is a country still plagued by child marriages or in this case, teen marriages. The practice remains socially acceptable in many parts of the country. Armeena Rana Khan raises the very issue in the light of the news of Aamir Liaquat Hussain marrying an 18-year-old.

It’s the 21st century, yet so many seemingly educated people use patriarchy and misogyny to discredit women and shame fathers when it comes to justifying their sons’ barbaric actions. Never any accountability of how many women their sons harass, violate or abuse (mentally or physically).

Families serve as one of the strongest socialising forces in a person's life. They help teach their child to control unacceptable behaviour, to delay gratification, and to respect the rights of others. Conversely, families can also teach their child aggressive, antisocial, and violent behaviour or as rightly stated by Momina Mustehsan, in the case of Zahid Jaffer, justify their son’s brutish act.
