Wajahat Rauf’s upcoming film ‘Parday Mein Rehne Do’ revolves around a taboo

Entertainment with a message

The opening of the trailer for Wajahat Rauf’s new film, Parday Mein Rehne Do, a drama-comedy, doesn’t hold back its big spoiler; there is definitely a fertility problem with Shani played by Ali Rehman Khan and, since it’s a Wajahat Rauf film (the man is known for making funny, family movies), herein lies the comedy part. The subject of infertility generally hasn’t been tackled in both film or television in Pakistan, since it is often considered as a taboo. But all that is about to change with the Eid-ul-Fitr release, Parday Mein Rehne Do. A story like this could very well be a topic for television, but cinema holds a higher, more prestigious pedigree than television according to Rauf. The plot feels like a refreshing addition to the Pakistani film scene as it sheds light on an issue that's prevalent in our society yet not discussed as much as it should be. The cast includes Hania Aamir as the female lead, along with Jawed Sheikh, Munazza Arif, Sadia Faisal, Noor Ul Hasan and many others.
