The Cinematic Glamour of Cannes Film Festival 2024
- 01 Jun - 07 Jun, 2024
The most celebrated event in the British film industry calendar – the 2022 BAFTA’s – returned for its first live edition since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, and with it came a renewed energy. The ceremony held at London’s Royal Albert Hall. British musical legend Shirley Bassey launched the festivities with a rousing rendition of the title song from the James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever, for which she received a standing ovation. Meanwhile, host Rebel Wilson – whose predecessors include Graham Norton, Joanna Lumley and Stephen Fry – was at her irreverent best and spared no one. Dune may have been the big winner at the 2022 BAFTA’s with five wins in the craft categories, but it was Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog that took home the coveted best film and director awards. Meanwhile, CODA star Troy Kotsur became the first deaf actor to win a BAFTA. Read on the to know about the winners of the glitzy night:
