When Bridgerton arrived on Netflix back in 2020, it was something of an overnight success. The soapy period drama set in Regency Era took the world by storm with its leading dreamy duo’s electrifying chemistry. The second season is now finally streaming on Netflix. This time around, the eldest boy in the Bridgerton family gets his shot at finding love. Daphne (Phoebe Dyvenor) has returned home just in time to help solve a crisis. Eloise (Claudia Jessie) is making her debut this season. Daphne tries her best to talk Eloise down as they go to present her to the Queen, but she can’t shake her jitters. The Queen, meanwhile, is anxiously awaiting the return of Lady Whistledown. Just in time for Eloise to sweat and trip before Her Majesty, the latest Lady Whistledown pamphlet arrives and gives Eloise the exit she’d been praying for. Living in Daphne’s shadow is crushing her, and the idea of disappointing everyone is too much. At least she’s got her pal Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) to lean on. The season is in full swing as everyone arrives at Lady Danbury’s ball, where Kate overhears Anthony having some unbecoming bro talk about finding a partner. The two bicker a bit before she tells him off and leaves him gob smacked, and the two don’t cross paths again until the Queen’s ball – under eve tenser circumstances. This is only the beginning of the Bridgerton saga, and if there’s anything Lady Whistledown has taught us, it’s to expect the unexpected. We can’t wait to see what sparks fly (and between whom!).
