PANIC’S FIRST PLAYDATE HANDHELDS WILL BEGIN TO SHIP SOON

Panic’s Playdate, its quirky Game Boy-like handheld with a crank, will finally begin to ship anytime soon, the company announced. “The first Playdate systems for customers in Group One will be shipped out gradually in the coming weeks,” Panic said in a press release. “Panic will be reaching out to customers in Group One when their units are shipping, and will also be in communication with any updates on when pre-order holders in other Groups can expect their Playdate systems to ship.” Panic estimates that all Group One orders will have shipped by around late May, but that could be subject to change. The first preorders for the device were originally supposed to ship at the end of 2021, but that timeline was pushed in November after Panic found the initial finished units had a major battery issue. Everyone who gets a Playdate will have access to its first season of 24 games. Two games will be delivered each week for 12 weeks, though those deliveries begin when you first connect your device to Wi-Fi, meaning that not everyone will have access to the same games at the same time.

THE NEW MOTOROLA MOTO G STYLUS 5G NOW COMES WITH A BUNCH OF UPGRADES AND A HIGHER PRICE

Motorola is introducing a new version of its Moto G Stylus 5G with a couple of nice upgrades for 2022 and, as a result, a higher $499 price tag. The 2022 edition of the G Stylus 5G includes a 6.8-inch screen with a super smooth 120Hz refresh rate, a more powerful 600-series Snapdragon processor, a stabilised main camera, and a bunch of built-in storage. The company is also debuting its $399, budget-oriented Moto G 5G in North America. The most noticeable update on the 2022 G Stylus 5G is that 120Hz display for smooth animations and scrolling. It’s a 1080p LCD panel, and it houses a 16-megapixel front-facing camera. On the back, there’s a 50-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization. There’s an 8-megapixel ultrawide that doubles as a macro camera, plus a 2-megapixel depth sensor. Both the phones will ship with Android 12, and Motorola is promising one additional OS upgrade after that. The Moto G Stylus 5G will go on sale on April 28th with preorders already started.

Logitech is coming up with Lift – a low-cost vertical mouse

Logitech has announced Lift, a $69.99 wireless vertical mouse that’s available starting today in multiple colourways, as well as with both right- and left-handed options. The Lift features a vertically oriented design that puts your hand at a 57-degree angle for better ergonomics. Compared to using a traditional mouse, using mice like the Lift may help to greatly reduce wrist strain since you’re holding your wrist at a similar angle to shaking someone’s hand. For those keeping track, the Lift isn’t quite as fully featured as the pricier $99.99 MX Vertical, but it could be a good starting option if you don’t want to spend that much. It lacks USB-C charging, instead running off of a single AA battery that Logitech claims can last up to two years. The Lift ditches the elegant design of the MX Vertical for something that’s more simplified and playful (plus, you can get it in graphite, silver, or pink). The mouse has two main buttons, a scroll wheel that emphasises smooth, quiet scrolling, a DPI switching button, and two thumb buttons.
