SONY’S NEXT FLAGSHIP HEADPHONES TO MAY HAVE A SLEEK NEW DESIGN

Sony’s WH-1000XM4 noise-cancelling headphones have been one of the best options since they debuted in 2020, but it appears the company is gearing up to release the next generation. German tech news site TechnikNews has published some images and specs of the successor, seemingly called the WH-1000XM5. The first thing you might notice is a sleek new design, particularly a thinner headband. The 1000XM3s and 1000XM4s were almost identical, but Sony could change the way things look for the new 1000XM5s. Instead of a shrouded arm that swivels, the arm is exposed, with a single contact point replacing the XM4’s larger folding hinge over the ear cups. That changes the design of the ear cups as well but suggests just a bit more of their space is available for the stuff that affects what you hear. Pictures of the leaked models in their carrying case show a design that ditches the collapsible folding of the XM4 that tucked one cup inside the other. There’s no word on the pricing or a release date as of yet for the new headphones.

ASUS’ NEW PORTABLE MONITOR LOOKS LIKE IT WAS RIPPED FROM A DUO LAPTOP

The Asus ProArt Display PA147CDV is a 14-inch touchscreen that’s designed to act as a secondary display for the creative. With its small form factor and ultra-wide 32:9 aspect ratio, it looks as though Asus has ripped the secondary display off one of its Duo laptops and turned it into an external monitor. The PA147CDV was technically announced last September, but Asus is currently showing it off at the NAB 2022 show in Las Vegas and is announcing plans to release the monitor in Q2 2022 in North America at a price that’s yet to be announced. With its support for Microsoft’s Pen Protocol 2.0 and a built-in dial that’s designed to emulate the functionality of Microsoft’s Surface Dial, Asus is pitching the PA147CDV as an accessory for the creatives looking for a little extra screen real estate without investing in a bulky second monitor or touchscreen tablet. The PA147CDV has a 14-inch 1920 x 550 IPS touchscreen and is equipped with one HDMI port and two USB-C ports. Asus is also showing off a pair of additional monitors set to release later this year.
